Ruchir Sharma
Chief Investment Officer
Ruchir Sharma is Chairman of Rockefeller International and Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Breakout Capital, an investment firm focused on emerging markets. He moved to Rockefeller in 2022 after a 25-year career at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he was Head of Emerging Markets and Chief Global Strategist.
Based in New York, Ruchir is the author most recently of the critically acclaimed 2024 title from Simon & Schuster, What Went Wrong with Capitalism, which was chosen as a Wall Street Journal book of the year. His four previous works include a 2016 New York Times bestseller, The Rise and Fall of Nations, and a 2012 international bestseller, Breakout Nations. He is a columnist at the Financial Times and a former contributing opinion writer at The New York Times. His work has also appeared in the Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, The Guardian, Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy, and many other publications.
Swanand Kelkar

Swanand worked at Fidelity, HSBC, and an India affiliate of Deloitte before joining Morgan Stanley Investment Management in 2007. He worked at Morgan Stanley for 14 years, rising to managing director, overseeing roughly $3 billion in Indian assets. Swanand graduated from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and is a chartered accountant. Mint, Moneycontrol, Bloomberg, Quint and Open Magazine: A rare multi-talent, Swanand is a certified yoga instructor and club cricketer. He is a regular contributor to Mint, a top Indian financial paper and has written on topics for Moneycontrol, Bloomberg, Quint and Open Magazine.
Sherri Cohen

Chief Compliance Officer
A 30-year industry veteran, Sherri has held leadership roles across financial services, from operations to product management. In 22 years at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, she rose to become Global Head of Emerging Markets Trading, overseeing all aspects of product risk and portfolio construction, as well as IT infrastructure, compliance and business development, alongside her trading responsibilities. In 2021, she moved to UBS, leading business development in the Execution Hub Outsourced Trading Division. In the past, she worked at State Street Bank, GE Investments, Cigna Investments and Societe Generale. Sherri previously held Series 3,7,24 and 63 FINRA licenses.
Steven Quattry
Portfolio Manager
With over 20 years of investment experience, Steven came to Breakout Capital from Morgan Stanley Investment Management where he researched and traveled extensively in emerging and frontier markets, most recently as a portfolio manager for the Next Gen Emerging Markets Strategy. Previously, he worked as an analyst at Panda Global Advisors concentrating on economic and investment research, and in the financial management program at GE Capital.
Rohit Goel
Head of Macro Research
A former lead equity analyst at Barclays Capital, Rohit worked most recently as a senior researcher in the Global Markets Division of the International Monetary Fund. He helped develop the IMF’s framework for monitoring global financial stability, and led research on emerging markets and asset valuations. He also advised central banks, and was an author of the IMF’s Global Financial Stability Report.
Zachary Apoian
Director, Macro Research
Zack has over 20 years of industry experience in quantitative portfolio strategy and research including, eight years with Morgan Stanley, where he worked with multi-asset mandates, and eight years with Sanford C. Bernstein. He started his career with roles at SAC and Chronos, after graduating from MIT with degrees in Mathematics, Physics, and Management Science.
Chintan Parikh

With over 20 years working in quantitative analysis, Chintan was most recently a key member of the HOLT team at Credit Suisse, specializing in the quality of corporate accounting, fundamentals and valuations.
Apoorv Bhargava
Macro Analyst
Apoorv has over 8 years of experience in global financial markets. Most recently, he worked as a researcher in the Capital Flows Division of the IMF, analyzing flows to emerging markets and developing macroprudential policy recommendations. Before the IMF, he worked as an analyst at JP Morgan, covering global cross-currency markets.
Ameya Karambelkar

With seven years of experience, Ameya started working in Research and Development at Tata Motors before obtaining a post graduate degree from the Indian Institute of Management. Since then, he has held positions in equities research at IIFL Capital and in bottom-up research on the investment team at Kotak Investment Advisors.
Kunal Shah
Vice President
Kunal has analyzed stocks for more than 10 years. After starting at JP Morgan, he covered utility and infrastructure firms at Antique Stock Broking, and most recently focused on consumer and internet companies at Jefferies and IIFL Institutional Equities. He holds a graduate degree in petroleum engineering and is both a CFA and certified Financial Risk Manager.

With over 15 years of industry experience, Adam was most recently Head of Operations at Cartica Management, an emerging market hedge fund. He held previous roles in operations at Argonaut, Balyasny and GMO.
Cheryl Galante
Head of Investor Relations & Client Servicing
A veteran of UBS, Credit Agricole and Natixis with over three decades in capital market sales, trade execution and asset raising, Cheryl was most recently at a boutique firm that helps buy side institutions raise funds.
Sidhartha Gupta
Director of Operations
Sidhartha has over two decades of experience in investment operations and client servicing. He previously handled operations and investor servicing for Morgan Stanley’s asset management business in India.
Paul Weiner

Paul has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, most of them working alongside Ruchir Sharma at Morgan Stanley. Previously, he was with Marsh & McLennan Companies and Goldman Sachs.
